Luke 9:51-62
Third Sunday after Pentecost

Pastor's sermon is based on Luke 9:51-62 and begins at the 14:35 mark. This morning, we are launched into Luke’s “Travel Narrative,” the journey of Jesus from Galilee to Jerusalem, where the cross awaits him. Luke says, “Jesus set his face to go to Jerusalem.” As we strive to follow Jesus, we struggle to let go of things that prevent us from fully trusting in the Lord. At the same time, the awareness of Christ’s presence helps to ease life’s hardships. We give thanks for the Lord’s willingness to hold on to us through life’s ups and downs and to bring us through to the other side. Thanks be to God! Amen.
